Once you make your way through the game’s story, dive back in to play in each mission’s glorious sandbox. That’s the point! Go back in and take a new approach, find new secrets, uncover new and more clever ways to take down your mark. You probably won’t be entirely happy with your first playthrough. This game’s replay value is truly impressive when you think about all the various ways you can accomplish any given mission, often tracking down multiple targets in each one.

Each mission is chocked full of items, characters, secrets and different paths for Agent 47 to discover. There may only be five main missions (and one more linear finale mission) available in Hitman 3 but don’t let that fool you into thinking the game doesn’t have plenty of content. But again, this is less because you’re missing out on the story and more because you’re missing out on great missions. That being said, the first two games are cheap enough at the moment, and the first in particular is excellent (I was less fond of the second game). You have the option of catching up on the story in a short recap video in-game, and then you can just dive right in without missing a beat. It’s a globe-trotting tale of mystery and intrigue, betrayal and revelation, with lots of funny codenames like The Shadow Client and The Constant. I admit, I have very little interest in the story in these games. You don’t need to play the other games in the series. I’m not sure I necessarily agree, but then I’m not as big of a fan.

And it comes from a major fan of the series with a lot of time spent on this trilogy. That’s high praise and a high score, to say the least.
